TRL’s core verse is Psalm 34:5 which says, “Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame,” but its name is also greatly inspired by Moses in Exodus 34. After he fasted for 40 days twice (possibly even another 40!) Moses experienced an intimate, special, intense, close, and undisturbed fellowship with God. Afterwards, his face was radiating. This radiant light was not a mere reflected light either, but a light that seemed to come from within. It was the effect of spending those days and nights in the presence of the Lord revealing His glory.
This gives a beautiful picture and reminder in relation to our appearance- that no matter what we’re wearing, how we fix our hair, how we apply our makeup, whatever brands, whatever styles, whatever trends, or however many pounds you want to shed- it will never replace the inner light, joy, and peace that God offers us when we spend time and choose to follow Him. It is a true beauty that can never fade away.
TRL was originally called “fashion meets God” (fmG). It was born in 2013 after Jireh De Jose believed God was calling her to bridge her love for the fashion & beauty industries with her faith as a follower of Jesus. Thus, fmG became an online hub where Jireh shared her personal style, wardrobe tips, runway reports, as well as encouragement and insights from her own walk with the Lord.
By God’s grace, fmG was featured in both spiritual and secular publications, amassed over 112,000 blog views and counting, and #1 as Feedspot’s “Top 15 Christian Fashion Blogs & Websites in 2020.” It has also featured dozens of women from all over the world. These interviews on their style and faith journey can still be found on the original site along with over 200 published blog posts ranging from fashion, beauty, and, of course, sharing God’s love and Truth.
In September 2020, after more than a year of praying and planning, fmG transitioned into TRL. It may have a new name, but the mission is still the same: To help empower women through style and beauty while building “God-fidence” from the inside, out.
